What is CAN-U?

Cumberland Adult Network for Upgrading (CAN-U) is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping adults prepare for the workplace, continuing education, and enhancing their everyday lives. We offer a variety of educational, employment, and life skills programs in a safe, supportive learning environment. One of the primary funders is the Nova Scotia School of Adult learning.

Our Approach to learning

We exist because traditional education doesn't work for everyone, we take a student-centered approach to learning meaning we build our lessons and programs around our learners rather than trying to fit our learners into a box. We work individually with each learner to help design the best path for them. We try to be as adaptive as possible for all our students.

How it works?

We offer classes to anyone age 18+, 100% FREE. First contact us and set up your intake appointment, when you arrive for your intake appointment, we will give you a tour, have a meeting to get your information and figure out your goals. From here, we will discuss what classes will be best for you and then you get your schedule. You are all ready to start class!
